ONE HEALTH EDUCATION: A New Approach for Health Professions

The One Health approach is the only way to prevent global microbial threats such as emerging pathogens and emerging zoonetic diseases. On a globalscale, up-to-date training is the right way to find solutions for complex problems and to create preventive awareness in society. Since traditional education is the primary reason of global problems such as emerging infectious epidemics and obesity which has “pandemicity”, have been occuring since the secondhalf of the last century and continue in the present-day; and an alteration is therefore indispensable. The new name of this paradigm should be One Health Education. The aim of the conference is to explain the importance of One Health to the students who study Health Professions Education and to the society. As we believe; both regional, and global complex health problems can be solved by an interdisciplinary approach. It is necessary to create and raise awareness for the One Health Approach, which is vital for present-day. It is hoped that; the new One Health Education, which is currently under development, will eliminate ongoing discipline-based silos and bridges from tradition to change. This holistic approach will be the other name of the philosophy of One Health, or the idea of “One Medicine” by Dr. Rudolf Virchow.
